The Pop-up 3D project is dedicated to the research driven digitization of historical movable books. The focus is not only on their images but on all their movable elements, paper mechanics, and specific forms of interactivity.

On this project website we continuously document our experiences, decisions, and findings from our day-to-day work: from conservation related questions to 3D visualization and annotation, as well as standards, workflows, and open research questions. The contributions provide insights into an ongoing project — and into the practical processes involved in digitally replicating dynamic cultural objects.
